Trust who? Trust you!

If you believe in God, you might feel an internal push to always do the right thing. But if you don’t have that faith, it’s important to develop a sense of truth about your life and trust yourself to uphold it. I’ve found it helpful to practice this with my discretionary time. Whenever I have a free moment, I write down what I believe would be the best use of that time and observe if I follow through. If I don’t, I write a few sentences about why I violated my own commitment. This self-observation and journaling help ensure I stay true to how I want to be as a parent, therapist, artist, and spouse.
